the Joy OF Art

Picture
Mary Munstermann-Sher, a native San Franciscan, started her art adventure drawing with watercolor pencils in 2007. After months of experimentation in this genre, she signed up for art classes at the Sonoma Community Center. Weekly art classes followed with the renowned watercolor artist Vic DeBeck at the  Creekside Village Art Center, in Sonoma, California. Interest in abstract art developed, which then led her to meet the world famous artist Mary Titus, owner of the Titus Gallery in Carmel, California. Taking lessons at the Titus Gallery flew the door open to creativity and imagination that she had never experienced before exposing her amazing talent.

A snapshot was in order when world famous artist Simon Bull visited his friend Mary Titus at her gallery. Mr. Bull watched Mary Sher getting her lesson saying that she has real talent and will go far as an artist.
"A place exists between this world and the next... it is from this threshold that I paint. Magnificent personal satisfaction can be found by exploring the unknown, putting brush to canvas and watch magic appear. Somehow it gives me a sense of what the process of manifesting the planet must have been like, as the Great Spirit experiences in all creation. To be one with this is a cherished joy for which I am humbly grateful. The teachers who have had the greatest influence have conveyed one essential message to me - "let go". And there is more... such as watching the viewers expressions when a painting resonates to them, seeing that connection occur is an amazing process. Somehow a light goes on in the viewer and their aura transforms as a result of their physical, emotional and/or spiritual translation of the art piece. Whether it is my art, or another art form - poetry, sculpture, music, it is wonderful to watch as it is received and enlightens those who chose to envelope the gift."    -Mary Munstermann-Sher

In 2013 Mary Sher began expanding her art media to include acrylics. During her visits to Carmel, Mary Sher would often visit the Titus Gallery and admire the magnificent art on exhibit. While strolling the streets in Carmel in May of 2013 she brought her husband into the Titus Gallery to show him the work of Mary Titus. It was at this time that a meeting occurred with Mary Titus who graciously shared her wealth of knowledge and gave Mary Sher some helpful tips. Mary Titus agreed to give Mary Sher a lesson at her gallery. It was from here that Mary Sher was initiated into abstract arcylic art.
